A Small Orange’s CEO, Douglas Hanna, Wins the GSEA Regional Competition
A Small Orange is proud to announce that our very own CEO, Douglas Hanna, won the regional finals for the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA).
The GSEA is the premier competition for young entrepreneurs around the world with aims of supporting, connecting and recognizing their endeavors and businesses. GSEA is sponsored by the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, which has a network of over 7,600 members across 39 countries and average company annual sales of $18.3 million. Recognition at GSEA provides a leg up for young entrepreneurs, introducing them to an elite network of business people all around the world.
Doug was one of six young entrepreneurs to be nominated and invited to New York this past month, where he gave a presentation about A Small Orange and the work he’s done here in front of a panel of judges comprised of leading entrepreneurs, media, and dignitaries.
In his presentation, Doug highlighted A Small Orange’s business model, and explained how he was able to accelerate the company’s growth. As CEO, Doug has helped improve customer service, expanded ASO’s product and service offerings, and helped improved the company’s infrastructure. Doug has also led acquisitions of three additional web hosting companies and overseen their integration with A Small Orange. All together, A Small Orange and its subsidiary brands host nearly 500,000 domains.
Participants at GSEA were judged on criteria such as company’s profit and growth, how learning experiences were utilized, planning for the future, and determination as an entrepreneur. The competition was fierce, standards were high, and the competitors were all required to deliver a written presentation, present a slide show, and answer questions from the judging panel. For his impressive work, business plan, and ability to communicate his goals, Doug prevailed and was announced as the winner of the Regional Competition.
As a regional champion, Doug will be heading back to New York in November to compete in the 2011 GSEA Global Finals, for the opportunity to engage with world class entrepreneurs, receive media exposure, win cash, and share in over $150,00.00 in donated business services.
