Anyone can use a website builder and WordPress is becoming more user-friendly all the time. Still, you may find that your website’s needs are more advanced than the typical blog or small business. You might simply have bigger things to do than devote time to theme selection, page layout, and graphics. Should either of these scenarios be the case, hiring an experienced website designer could be in your best interest.

A website designer combines creative and technical skills to arrange sites that not only look nice, they function well. They might select and modify your theme, construct your logo, choose your color template and fonts, map out pages, create custom graphics, and take steps to ensure your company’s message is getting across. Depending on the web designer, they may also offer some development and copywriting services as well.

Before you hire a web designer, make sure they have the right skills for the job. Do they have a degree or certification? Do they have a portfolio of their work? How long have they been in business? Once you’re certain they’re qualified, you should make sure you fully understand what they’re offering. Do they just design the site, or will they implement it for you? Will they be managing your site after the work is complete, or will they be handing you the reins? You should also pick someone with whom you click. You’re going to be working closely with this person, so you want them to listen to your ideas and understand your overall goals.
