Backing Up Your Website

If you’re not already backing up your website, it’s something you may want to consider. Backing up your website will not only protect you in the event that it gets hacked or infected with a virus, it can also act as an “undo” button should a new update go awry.

Unfortunately, backing up onto your computer isn’t always the safest place. If you leave your laptop in your unlocked car or spill your tall caramel macchiato across the keys, you can kiss all your files goodbye. Even an external hard drive can have its problems if it gets lost or damaged. That’s why backing up remotely is your best bet. Luckily, there are a lot of different ways you can do this.

You could use a backup solution like Backup Machine or CodeGuard. If you’re using WordPress,  there are a number of plugins that will do the job, including VaultPress, BackUpBuddy and Duplicator. You could also repurpose Dropbox or Google Drive to suit your needs. But if you’re hosting with A Small Orange, there’s no need to worry. Regardless of what shared plan you’ve picked, we backup your website on the cloud for free everyday.
