How Many Pages Should My Website Have?

As you click “Add Page” for the 14th time, you may be wondering if you’ve got too many pages. Or you may have launched your blog with only two and now you’re questioning whether that’s really enough. There is no hard and fast rule about the number of pages your website should have. The correct answer is, as many as it needs.

But determining what your website needs isn’t always as easy as it sounds. On the one hand, you don’t want to overwhelm your users, but at the same time, you want to provide enough relevant information to be useful.

Most websites will have a homepage that serves as an overall summary for the rest of the sight. Separating your products from your company information and history can be helpful as well. Even if you have your contact information in the header or footer, many users will also want to see it listed on a separate page. If you plan to use content as a marketing strategy, you’ll need a separate page for a blog as well. In addition to these pages, you might also have FAQs, case studies, testimonials, staff bios, a portfolio, a newsroom, and more.

If you’re just launching your business, you may not have all of this information yet. That’s okay. Instead of adding “under construction” signs (an out-of-date trend), you can add additional pages as you go.
